SOZIUS – Förderung sozialer Integration durch Kooperatives Lernen für die inklusive Unterrichts- und Schulentwicklung

Abstract

The dataset was obtained in a longitudinal intervention study investigating the effects of cooperative learning in improving social acceptance of excluded children in primary school classrooms. N = 889 children and N = 39 classes participated in the project. The intervention included units of cooperative learning on a daily basis, which the teachers were trained for. The dataset comprises the measurements of class climate, perceived social integration, attitudes towards children with special educational needs and sociometric date concerning acceptance and rejection by peers as well as reciprocal relationships with peers. The dataset was composed by four measurements of time (1st – before the teachers’ training regarding cooperative learning, 2nd – before intervention, 3rd – after intervention/post, 4th – follow up (2 months later)) to document.

Description

A file presenting the contact pattern over the course of six weeks is attached. On the one hand, it documents the well-being of the students during class and break situations. On the other hand, it documents the interaction partners and perceived quality of contacts during these two contexts. Description of Files: Files can be opened by using Microsoft-Excel 2016, 2019, SPSS 26 and R (R version 4.0.3). More recent and future versions are likely to be able to read the dataset as well. Data of SOZIUS_Daten were obtained via paper-pencil surveys. To reduce mistakes in documenting the data digitally, a range of values was set for the process of data entry. Missing values are marked with 99. Data were entered by instructed people and checked for plausibility after finishing data entry. Additional information on the data can be obtained from SOZIUS_Daten_Codebuch. SOZIUS_Kontaktdaten contains contact data obtained from the pupils via an application designed for the project. Data were exported from the tablets and merged using Microsoft-Excel 2016. SOZIUS_Kontaktdaten_Codebuch presents additional information on this dataset. Implementation of the intervention is documented in SOZIUS_Implementation_KG und SOZIUS_Implementation_KG. These data were provided by the teachers and were entered digitally using the same procedure used for SOZIUS_Daten. All files were created by using Microsoft-Excel 2016 and saved as .xlsx and .csv.
