Globalization and the increasing division of labor as well as the worldwide trade in products, increase the need for a clear, complete and non-verbal description of the functional geometrical requirements of a product. The symbolic language of Geometrical Product Specifications (GPS) is used to achieve this goal. However, a study of existing teaching approaches has shown, that, given the topicality of the subject, there are few approaches to teaching GPS in both industry and education. In order to fill this gap, the Chair of Engineering Design is analyzing the current challenges in application and is investigating potential teaching opportunities.
